Configure Aemulus Package Manager and build your mod loadout.
Aemulus Package Manager (source) is a program that organizes, merges, and builds mod loadouts for many of the Persona games.
You may have heard of a program called Mod Compendium. This is an older tool that was used for modding Persona games before Aemulus came along.
Aemulus is capable of importing and converting Mod Compendium mods; see the Extras section for more information.

The main Aemulus window.
The big list in the Aemulus window is called the grid.
Each individual entry on the grid is a package, a collection of loose files. Aemulus needs to build a package before it can become a working mod in P4G.
When you tell Aemulus to build a mod loadout, it merges all of the packages you have enabled into one set of files and saves them to your Persona 4 Golden\mods folder. The P4G PC Mod Loader program in Reloaded II then uses the contents of that folder to swap in modded files when you launch the game.

Configure Aemulus

We need to set up Aemulus itself before we can dive into customization.

First Launch

  • Open your Aemulus folder.
  • Launch AemulusPackageManager.exe.
If Aemulus asks to update itself, select Yes and wait for the download to complete.
Aemulus will automatically close and restart after updating.
  • Make sure the box in the top left of the window has the Persona 4 Golden icon (click it and select P4G if it doesn't).
  • Make sure the box to the right of the game icon has the text P4G CEP (click it and select P4G CEP if it doesn't).
  • Click the gear icon ⚙️ (Configure Paths and Settings) to open the Config window.

Set File Paths

Aemulus needs to know a few file and folder paths in order to function.
  • In the Config window, click Browse to the right of each box and select the following files/folders:
Browse here...
Output Folder
...\Persona 4 Golden\mods folder
P4G.exe Path
...\Persona 4 Golden\P4G.exe
Reloaded-II.exe Path
...\P4G Mods\.Reloaded II\Reloaded-II.exe

Double-Check Checkboxes

Make sure the following boxes are checked:
  • Empty SND Folder
  • Use CPK Structure
  • Delete Old Versions
Check Enable Mod Updates and Update All on Refresh if you would like to get automatic updates for P4G CEP.

Unpack Base Files

Aemulus needs to unpack some of P4G's data archives into a folder named Original so that it can merge packages that edit the same archives together.
  • In the Config window, make sure the box at the bottom says English (data_e.cpk).
  • Click Unpack Base Files and wait for the process to finish. It might take a minute or two.
  • Click OK to close the Finished Unpacking! window, then close the Config window.

Customize Your Loadout

Now for the fun part! It's time to choose which mods you'd like to use in P4G.
Package Information
Enable / Disable Packages
Add Custom Packages
Click on a package to get more information about it on the right side of the grid.
For even more information, click the package's GameBanana link to open the mod page on the Web.
Some GameBanana pages may contain unmarked spoilers.
To enable a package, check its box in the grid.
To disable a package, uncheck its box in the grid.
Please confirm the packages included with P4G CEP are working correctly with your game before adding any more.
You can add your own packages to Aemulus by following this Extras entry.
Make sure only one of each of these is enabled:
  • Controller UI Overhaul: One controller type
  • Useful Calendar: Spoiler-Free or With Spoilers
  • Battle Portraits: Corrected Battle Portraits or P4 Arena Ultimax Portraits
  • Font: Slim Font or P5 Strikers Font
P4 Arena Ultimax Follow-Up Portraits is separate and can be used with either Battle Portraits package.

Build Your Loadout

Once you start building, Aemulus will delete EVERYTHING in the Output Folder you defined in the Config window.
Make sure that you selected your Persona 4 Golden\mods folder and that there are no important files there before continuing.
  • Once you've finished customizing your mod loadout, click the 🔨 Build button.
Aemulus will ask you to confirm that you want to delete the entire contents of the output folder. Make sure the folder in the confirmation box is your Persona 4 Golden\mods folder, then click Yes.
Aemulus will merge your packages and copy them over. The process may take a few minutes.
Keep Aemulus open! You'll need it for the next step.
